Pylon exhibition at the V&A

In collaboration with our sister company Millennium we were asked to produce the models for the pylon exhibition at the V&A museum. Four of the final six models were 3d printed by chalk and finished by Millennium while the other two were made using traditional modelmaking techniques.

Riba, The Department of Energy and Climate Change and the National Grid held an open competition for architectural firms to come up with a new generation of electricity pylons.

The shortlist of finalists were:

Y-Pylon by Knight Architects with Roughan & O’Donavon, and ESB International in association with MEGA

Flower Tower by Gustafson Porter with Atelier One, and Pfisterer

Plexus by Al-A with Arup

Totem by New Town Studio, with Structure Workshop

A prize fund of £10,000 will be shared amongst the winning candiates.
